  • Text response: reading the prompt for its actual claim, building a contention, paragraph structure that examiners reward, quoting with precision, the difference between a 6 and a 9.
  • Creating texts (Units 3&4): writing to the Framework of Ideas, controlling form and voice, drafting under time, the written explanation.
  • Analysing argument: identifying strategies and their intended effect, comparative analysis, avoiding technique-listing.
  • Oral presentation: issue selection, structure, delivery practice on camera.
  • Exam technique: the 27 October 2026 exam is three hours plus reading time — timed practice essays every fortnight from Term 3, marked against the VCAA criteria with written feedback.
